First Line Management and Supervision Skills Course (One Day)

Print this page

The role of the first line manager or a supervisor is arguably one of the most important tasks in any business. Achieving high levels of commitment and motivation from front line staff as well as meeting the needs of your customers and your managers at the same time is pivotal if the business is to achieve success.

One Day Course - Timings are 9.30 am to 4.30 pm

This training is not suitable for those supervisors/managers who are door supervisors (SIA), Chapter 8 ground works or those working in the construction sector (SSSTC) - these are industry specific courses not provided by ourselves.

Booking confirmations: We will email you to confirm receipt of your booking within five working days. A confirmation invoice will be issued to either request payment by either BACS/cheque or confirmation of payment if you have made a card payment already through our World Pay Account.  Again this will be issued within five working days. Also detailed joining instructions are normally released by email at least seven working days prior to the date of the course.

We look forward to receiving your booking and welcoming you onto the course.

These are some of the areas we cover on our one-day course:

  • Identifying the skills and attributes a first line manager/supervisor needs to bring to the workplace
  • Time management and meeting skills
  • Understanding the role of the first line manager/supervisor
  • The qualities of managers and differing management styles recognising your own
  • Adapting your management style to suit your team
  • Managing friends in the workplace and your relationship with your team and your colleagues
  • Maximising your relationship with your manager
  • Identifying what motivates staff
  • Recognising effective methods of communication to motivate and maintain engagement in your team and throughout the business
  • Managing vs doing - getting the balance right
  • Delegation

We issue pre-course questionnaires to enable you to influence the content together with other delegates attending on the day.

We offer preferential rates for in-company one to one coaching and small groups training at your business - call us on 01423 861122 or email us at for more information.

Ideal for new and existing first line managers and supervisors wishing to develop or refresh their leadership and management skills.

What our clients say:

The First Line Management and Supervision Skills course was extremely beneficial & tailored to suit our company’s needs, not just generic as some training programs can be. Mike added the personal touch which we all appreciated and felt any questions we asked were answered with our business in mind. We all came away feeling more confident in our roles and have already started to put into practice some of the new skills we learnt.  All in all we would definitely recommend the course & Ripley Training to anyone & the next course is already booked with them!
